To all of my fellow hockey players, Tony Canino here. I just want to thank you all for your concern for me. I have heard that a lot of you were concerned about me, for that I say thank you. First for my teammates on Sevigny Insurance and team Brex and those of you that saw me hauled off on the stretcher, I know it must have been scary for all of you. I know I was scared. It was the worst injury we fear as hockey players is a spinal cord injury. I consider myself very lucky it wasn't worse. I have been in rehab for almost 3 weeks now. My progress has been amazing!! I can walk pretty well and getting most my movement in my arms and hands back. I can feed and mostly shower myself. Sounds simple but it is the battle I have to face. My biggest problem is the nerve damage. I tingle all over but mostly my hands. I can feel temperature but no feeling. I think it will come back in time. I am determined to be 100%!!! I will see you all at the start of next season so all of you can see how well I have progressed. Please have a great Summer and be safe in the game we all love. By the way this accident was all my fault. I was chasing to get the puck and lost my balance. No one was near me. I just wanted all of you to know that. Be safe and see you in the Fall as a spectator only. Tony Canino

On Thursday March 23rd during a playoff game between Sevigney Insurance and Brex. Tony Canino (Sevigney Insurance),a long time player in the league, had an accident on the ice and hit the end boards. Here is an update on Tony. Please keep Tony and his family in your thoughts.
On Friday March 24th,he had two discs removed, replaced and 3 fused together. He is able to move his arms and legs, but cannot tell exactly where his arms are. He also still has a lot of tingly feelings, that is what is bothering him the most. He was able to sit up on the edge of the bed for a short time on his own. He is scheduled to move to a rehab facility potentially tomorrow. Will not know how much he actually will recover for up to the next year to 1.5 years. He stated that his hockey career is over. His goal now is to get back to work and hold his granddaughter.
